Plastic: The Choice of Material for Kids’ Products and Bottles

Small kids, mostly in the age range of 6 months to 36 months, are often unwary of their surroundings, hence parents have to regularly keep an eye out for them lest they get injured by something pointy or hard such as metal. That is why most kids’ bowls, utensils, toys, and drinking bottles are made of soft plastic that possesses a negligible health risk for kids.

Kids like to play with their stuff, whether it is a toy, eating a bowl or an empty plastic honey bear bottles. And their tendency to chew whatever they get their hands on when they begin to grow their tiny teeth is another issue that is solved by using soft, non-toxic plastic bottles. The plastic used is often soft enough to chew but hard enough to not break into pieces, which can suddenly turn into a choking hazard in case a kid decided to swallow the pieces.

Using plastic as a kid-friendly material has many distinct advantages such as:

1.Lightweight: Plastic is very lightweight, unlike metal which is heavy and can injuries if a kid suddenly drops the item on the floor. Due to the less weight of plastic, parents can leave the toys with the baby and not worry about any such metal-related injuries.

2.Non-Corrosive: Metal products are often made of stainless steel to avoid corrosion. However, not every coating process is perfect and any gaps in the manufacturing process can give rise to corrosion, which is a serious health risk for toddlers. Plastic does not corrode or change properties with time, making it the right material for kid-friendly products.

3.Squeezable: Bottles made of plastic are squeezable, which makes it easy for babies to consume their food or drink. Metal or glass bottles are not squeezable and pose unnecessary risk and convenience for kids.

4.Unbreakable: While metals are unbreakable, glass products are unfortunately very brittle and poses serious health hazards when broken accidentally. Plastic, on the other hand, is extremely versatile and is virtually unbreakable, making it perfect for making containers such as bowls and bottles.
